There is no subject to this page; it's just a bowl to put some words that flow through my mind, which is often like a sieve.
Responsibility: a word that a participant in my current mindfulness course used in a sharing session after a sitting practice. He said something like, “it’s a responsibility to watch the mind.” Agreed.
Maturity of humans has three aspects, in my humble opinion: not letting oneself blindly follow the habitual patterns or impulsions in autopilot mode is taking responsibility for oneself.
“Do no harm” is taking responsibility for other beings.
Caring for Mother Nature is taking responsibility for our planet, our home.
Taking responsibility takes strength and courage and it’s necessary in the personal process towards wholeness and the wellbeing of oneself and the whole planet. Humans don’t live above or outside nature – we are nature. If you ever want to know the world, look inside.
Golden rooster: the move and image that is full of 正氣Zheng Qi. I found myself unable to translate that during class and did a quick Google. It came up with a few words such as Integrity, Uprightness, Rectitude, Vital energy… they’re all right but not the whole right. One has to directly experience it. When you embody the golden rooster, you’re taking responsibility, you’re strong, rooted, and upright, so the worldly winds* and inner winds (the tendency, the flow) can do nothing with you.
*pleasure and pain, gain and loss, praise and blame, and fame and disrepute

The Eight Brocades of Silk 八段錦: special thanks to George from the Gillespie group who created this lovely drawing that we can make use of as a reminder for home practice during summer holiday. For more details, come to class.
